Older Person’s Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists play an important role in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of older people with mobility and musculoskeletal problems. Our goal is to fully enhance older persons’ functional independence and to enable them to continue to live as independently as possible within the community.

Our physiotherapists start with performing thorough assessments of an individual’s physical abilities and the impact of any problems on daily activities. Treatment plan and individual goals which will be developed and discussed with the client/patient, then follow through to optimize independence.

The assessment carried out may vary depending on needs, but may include:

  • Joint range of movement
  • Muscle strength
  • Posture
  • Balance ( including falls-related problems)
  • Functional activities
  • Walking
  • Gait analysis

Where necessary, we liaise with other professionals such as occupational therapists to appropriate interventions (such as assessment for aids and adaptations to the home) that are necessary.
